THE GOSPEL
THE POWER OF GOD TO SAVE MAN.
John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
John 1:14 “And the Word was made flesh , and dwelt among us…”

Who is He? JESUS, who is the Word, and His earliest followers believed that He was GOD and man. JESUS is the GOD-Man. GOD promised that the Messiah would be called “Immanuel” (GOD with us) and *“the Mighty GOD” *in the book of Isaiah 700 years before JESUS, the Messiah, came to earth.

John 19:30 “He said “ It is finished : and he bowed his head , and gave up the ghost.

Why do Christians talk so much about the death of Jesus? Because the death of JESUS is so unlike any death we have ever seen or heard. For one thing, JESUS died in the most painful way possible in His day. He died by means of the Roman cross. His death was not an accident or of natural causes. JESUS was murdered.

I Corinthians 15:3 “Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;”

The word “for” is very small and has seemingly little significance but from a Biblical standpoint it has unbelievable depth and meaning. The word conveys the idea of substitution. In Jesus's death He substituted Himself for someone. But who?

Isaiah 53:6 “All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.”

Jesus substituted Himself for the punishment of our sins that we might have a restored relationship with God and enjoy Heaven someday. If you will trust Jesus as your Lord and Savior, He will save you now.

Romans10:9 “ That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.“
